Three Sites, One Full Day of Old Kingdom History
This tour links three sites that together give a more complete picture of ancient Egypt's Old Kingdom than any single stop allows. The Giza Plateau is the obvious starting point: the three main pyramid complexes and the Great Sphinx, with time to understand the scale and context rather than just photograph the façade. Saqqara comes next, roughly 30 kilometres south of Giza, with the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the world's first large-scale stone construction and the predecessor to every pyramid that followed. The Grand Egyptian Museum closes the day with its permanent collection, including the complete Tutankhamun treasures displayed publicly for the first time.

How the Day Unfolds
What to Expect
The day starts at Giza, which is effectively within Cairo's city limits. Travel time from central hotels is typically 30 to 45 minutes in morning traffic. The Giza Plateau is large and open: you will walk across the site between the three pyramid complexes and the Sphinx. Both sites have uneven surfaces and no shade. Sun exposure is significant throughout the outdoor portions of the day.
Saqqara is quieter and less visited than Giza, which means more space and a calmer atmosphere. The Step Pyramid is older than the Giza pyramids and the guide covers the architectural evolution that connects the two sites. Lunch at a local restaurant follows before the GEM visit.
The Grand Egyptian Museum is large. The guided portion focuses on the most significant galleries, including the complete Tutankhamun hall. The group is limited to 10 people, which keeps the pace comfortable across all three locations.
