Cities

Egypt's cities carry thousands of years of history in their streets. Each one is worth more than a day.

Urban Egypt

These programs cover Cairo, Giza, Faiyum, Siwa, the White and Black Desert, Luxor, Aswan, and Saint Catherine. Each place has its own pace, its own character, and layers of history that take time to understand. They are built around exploring properly, with someone who knows where to look.

Explore By City

Select a city or destination to see the programs available there.

Cairo
Cairo
The largest city in Africa. Islamic Cairo, Coptic Cairo, the Citadel, and the Egyptian Museum are each worth a separate visit. A single day is not enough.
Luxor
Luxor
Luxor holds the largest concentration of ancient monuments in the world. The East Bank has Karnak and Luxor Temple. The West Bank has the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's temple, and the Colossi of Memnon.
Aswan
Aswan
Aswan is where the Nile slows down and the landscape changes. Philae Temple, the Nubian villages, and Abu Simbel further south are the main draws. It has a different pace from Cairo and Luxor.
Saint Catherine
Saint Catherine
Saint Catherine Monastery is one of the oldest Christian monasteries still in use, built at the base of Mount Sinai in the 6th century. Most programs include a pre-dawn climb to the summit to catch sunrise over the Sinai mountains.
Faiyum
Faiyum
An oasis an hour and a half from Cairo. Wadi El-Hitan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, contains ancient whale fossils from when the Sahara was a shallow sea. Wadi El-Rayan has desert lakes and one of the few natural waterfalls in Egypt.
Giza
Giza
The Giza Plateau holds the only surviving wonder of the ancient world. The three pyramids, the Sphinx, and the Solar Boat Museum are the main sites. Most programs extend the day south to Saqqara and Memphis.
White and Black Desert
White and Black Desert
Two desert landscapes within a day's drive of Cairo. The Black Desert has volcanic hills covered in dark basalt rock. The White Desert is an open expanse of chalk formations sculpted by wind. Most programs camp overnight.
Siwa
Siwa
A remote oasis near the Libyan border, eight hours from Cairo. The Oracle Temple where Alexander the Great was declared son of Amun is here, along with salt lakes, natural springs, and the ruins of the medieval mud-brick city of Shali.
