Tailor Made Holidays Siwa and the Western Desert by Starlight 2026/2027

An 8-day private trip from Cairo airport into Siwa Oasis for four days, then a 4x4 crossing of the Black and White Deserts with one night camped.

8 days
Moderate
Group Size: 8

Why This Trip Keeps the Oasis and the Camp Apart

Tailor made holidays Siwa and the Western Desert often fail at one point, because they drive straight from the oasis into the White Desert. This route sends you back to Cairo between them. You get four unhurried days in Siwa and a night in a proper bed before camp.

That split keeps each half honest. Siwa runs on Amazigh custom, salt lakes and palm shade, while the desert night belongs to silence and chalk rock. Both exist as shorter trips, the 4-day Siwa route and the three-day desert program, but here they share one guide and one plan.

Why These Tailor Made Holidays Siwa and the Western Desert Work

Four reasons this oasis and desert pairing feels calmer than the direct-route versions most operators sell.

An English-Speaking Guide From Siwa to Camp

A licensed English-speaking guide handles the oasis days and the desert crossing, with a local Bedouin guide joining for the camp night.

Someone Waiting for You at Cairo Airport

A representative meets you in arrivals and takes you to your hotel, so the first long day starts rested instead of rushed.

Four Siwa Days With Room to Swim

A luxury vacation Siwa and the Western Desert style needs slack in the schedule. These days have it, with salt lake swims, long lunches and unhurried sunsets.

The Desert Night Comes After Real Rest

You reach the White Desert after a night in a Cairo hotel bed, not straight off a nine-hour oasis road.

What Eight Days Between the Oasis and the Sand Feel Like

Expect long roads. Cairo to Siwa takes about nine hours each way, and Bahariya sits four hours from Cairo. Two of those drives fall on back-to-back days, so day five ends late in the evening and day six starts early.

This trip suits you if open desert matters more than temples and one camp night sounds fine. If you also want Farafra and the deeper oases, ask us for a longer version, since this route stops at the White Desert.

Siwa moves slowly, with a morning site, a long lunch in palm shade and a quiet sunset. Then the pace changes. The desert day is louder, with engines and sand, and it ends in total silence around the evening fire.

What's Included
  • Airport reception and help at Cairo on arrival and departure.

  • All transfers by private air-conditioned vehicle.

  • A 4x4 vehicle with driver for the desert crossing.

  • An English-speaking licensed guide throughout the trip.

  • A local Bedouin guide for the desert day and camp night.

  • Three nights in a selected Cairo hotel with breakfast.

  • Three nights in a Siwa hotel with all meals included.

  • One night in a White Desert camp with all meals included.

  • Hot drinks and bottled water throughout the desert trip.

  • Entry fees for every site listed in the itinerary.

What's Not Included
  • The 4x4 Great Sand Sea safari on day three, OPTIONAL.

  • Lunch and dinner on the Cairo arrival and departure days.

  • Drinks other than water and hot drinks with meals.

  • Tips and gratuities.

  • Egypt entry visa, where it applies to your passport.

  • Travel insurance and all personal expenses.

Important Information

Long desert drives, a camp night and remote permits make timing, fitness and season matter more here than on a Nile trip.

Meeting Point

Your representative meets you in the arrivals hall at Cairo International Airport, holding a sign with your name. Share your flight number when you book. Every later departure, to Siwa and to the desert, starts from your Cairo hotel lobby.

Age & Physical Requirements

Children are welcome with an adult, though nine-hour drives suit older kids best. You need moderate fitness for short climbs at Dakrur, Shali and Crystal Mountain, and for sleeping one night on a camp mattress.

Cancellation Policy

60+ days: refund less non-recoverable costs.
30 to 59 days: 25% charge.
15 to 29 days: 50% charge.
Under 15 days: up to 100%.
No-show: no refund.

Best Time to Visit

October to April is best, with warm days in Siwa and clear nights in the desert. December and January nights at camp get cold. June to August brings intense heat that makes the drives and swims hard work.

What to Bring

Packed for hot oasis days, salt water swims, sand in everything and one cold night outdoors.

What to Bring With You
  • Light long-sleeved shirts.

  • A warm fleece or jacket.

  • Swimsuit and quick-dry towel.

  • Closed walking shoes.

  • Sandals for the springs.

  • Wide-brimmed sun hat.

  • Sunglasses and sunscreen.

  • Headlamp or small torch.

  • Power bank for the camp.

  • Passport and visa copy.

  • Small Egyptian pound notes.

Merci Mahmoud !

Know the Roads, Swims and Comfort Level Before You Book

These answers help you judge the route logic, the optional safari and how far the comfort level can rise.

Why Does the Route Return to Cairo Between Siwa and the Desert?

The direct track from Siwa toward Bahariya is long and remote, so the route uses Cairo as a reset. You sleep in a hotel bed after the Siwa drive and leave for the desert the next morning.

Can I Swim in the Salt Lakes and Springs?

Yes. You float in the salt lakes on day four and can swim at Cleopatra's Bath and the El Hayz spring near Bahariya. Bring a towel and a swimsuit you do not mind staining with salt.

Is the Great Sand Sea 4x4 Safari Included in the Price?

No. The 4x4 safari is an optional extra on day three, chosen instead of Taghaghein Island. It covers dunes, a hot spring, a cold lake, sandboarding and a campfire sunset with Bedouin tea and dates.

Can the Hotels Be Upgraded for a More Comfortable Stay?

Yes. For a luxury holiday Siwa and the Western Desert trip, your Cairo and Siwa hotels can move up a category on request. The desert camp stays simple, since comfort there comes from the setting and the Bedouin crew.
