Siwa Camp Retreat from Cairo to the Oracle's Oasis 2026/2027

Four days and three nights at a palm-and-mudbrick camp in Siwa, with salt lakes, Cleopatra's Bath, the Oracle of Amun and full board from Cairo and back.

4 days

Route: Siwa

Why a Siwa Camp Works Better Than a Siwa Hotel

A Siwa camp puts you inside the oasis instead of beside it. You sleep in rooms of kershef salt mud and palm trunks, eat under palm-leaf shade and wake at the desert edge. Siwa is nine hours from Cairo, so where you sleep shapes most of the trip.

That is why this route gives you three full nights, enough for the springs, the salt lakes and the Oracle without rushing any of them. If you prefer a hotel base, the 4-day Siwa Oasis tour covers similar ground, and the Siwa programs page lists every other format.

Why Sleeping Among the Palms Changes This Trip

Four reasons the camp format suits Siwa's distance, its light and the slow way the oasis moves.

Nights Among the Palms, Not in a Lobby

A Siwa Oasis camp built from kershef, palm trunks and local stone keeps the oasis around you after the touring ends. Evenings happen outdoors, under palm-leaf shade or beside a fire.

A Licensed Guide Who Knows Siwi Culture

An English-speaking licensed guide joins every visit in Siwa. You get the Oracle's history, the Amazigh traditions and the salt lakes explained on the spot, not read later.

Your Own Car from the Cairo Hotel Door

A private air-conditioned car collects you at your hotel in Cairo or Giza. It stays with your group for the long western road there and back.

Every Meal Covered, so Evenings Stay Simple

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included from the first road stop to the last. That matters in a remote oasis where choices thin out after dark.

How the Four Days Unfold Between Springs, Ruins and Sunsets

One long road in, two oasis days split between morning sites and afternoon water, then an easy morning before the road home.

What Three Nights at a Siwa Camp Actually Feel Like

The road from Cairo takes about nine hours each way, so the first and last days are mostly driving. Camp rooms are simple and clean, not plush. Summer heat is serious, so both full oasis days include a midday rest.

This trip suits you if you want quiet, water and Siwi culture more than monument after monument. It suits you less if long drives wear you down or you need hotel comforts. Our desert adventures go further into remote camping.

Days here follow the sun. Mornings go to the sites while the light is soft, afternoons slow down around springs and salt water, and evenings end back at camp. Siwa goes quiet early after dark, and you will follow it.

What's Included
  • Pickup and return to your hotel in Cairo or Giza.

  • Private air-conditioned vehicle for the whole trip.

  • English-speaking licensed guide for all visits in Siwa.

  • Three nights at a Siwa camp lodge with private bathroom.

  • All meals from lunch on Day 1 to lunch on Day 4.

  • Entrance fees for every site listed in the itinerary.

  • Bottled water throughout the four days of the trip.

What's Not Included
  • The 4x4 Great Sand Sea safari, offered as OPTIONAL.

  • Tips and gratuities, which stay entirely optional.

  • Travel insurance for the duration of your trip.

  • Personal expenses, shopping and souvenirs in Siwa.

Important Information

Siwa sits far from any airport, so pickup, fitness and season shape this trip more than most Egypt programs.

Meeting Point

Pickup is from your hotel in Cairo or Giza early on Day 1, with drop-off at the same hotel on the evening of Day 4. Siwa has no regular passenger flights, so the private car is your route in and out.

Age & Physical Requirements

Children travel with an accompanying adult, and the long road days suit kids who ride well in a car. Walking is light, but Dakrur and Shali involve uneven steps. Salt lake swimming is optional.

Cancellation Policy

60 days or more: refund less non-recoverable costs.
30 to 59 days: 25% charge.
15 to 29 days: 50% charge.
Under 15 days: up to 100%.
No-show: no refund.

Best Time to Visit

October to April is the most comfortable window, with warm days and cool camp nights. June to August brings intense heat that cuts into afternoons at the lakes. The Siyaha festival at Dakrur usually falls around October's full moon.

What to Bring

Calibrated for warm oasis days, cool nights at camp, salt water swims and long hours in the car.

What to Bring With You
  • Light long-sleeved clothing.

  • A warm layer for evenings.

  • Swimwear for springs and lakes.

  • Comfortable walking shoes.

  • Sandals for wet ground.

  • Sun hat and sunglasses.

  • High-factor sunscreen.

What to Know Before You Commit to the Siwa Road

Four answers on comfort, the safari choice, specific camps and the drive, so you know what you are signing up for.

Is a Siwa Camp as Comfortable as a Hotel?

No, not in the hotel sense. You get a clean private room with its own bathroom, while the appeal lies in the palms, the natural setting and the quiet rather than in hotel services.

Do I Need to Choose the 4x4 Safari Before I Travel?

No, though earlier is better. Telling us before departure lets the 4x4 be arranged in advance, while deciding in Siwa depends on vehicle availability that day. The safari is charged separately from the program price.

Can I Stay at Ali Khaled Camp Siwa or Siwa Astro Camp?

Yes, you can name a specific camp when you enquire. Availability and room type are checked and confirmed before booking, and the itinerary stays the same wherever you sleep.

How Long Is the Drive from Cairo to Siwa?

About nine hours each way, broken by a lunch stop midway or in Marsa Matrouh. The car is private, so short breaks for rest or photos happen when you need them.
